Karan Darroch joined Dunedin in 2012. She is responsible for the provision of detailed financial information for our investors and the analysis of portfolio performance.

What is your background?

Following graduation I joined KPMG where I qualified as a Chartered Accountant. I spent two years seconded to KPMG Melbourne before returning to the UK where I became a Senior Manager in the Financial Services Audit department, prior to joining Dunedin.

Can you tell me what you think is special about Dunedin?

Dunedin’s special formula is very much centred around the ethos of teamwork, with everyone being committed towards common goals. I feel very lucky to work with a group of talented, focused individuals who support and respect each other. We are also a team who like to celebrate success and have fun; this definitely enhances the working experience!

Who or what inspires you?

I’m inspired by talented / successful people; individuals with a natural brilliance or those who achieve great things by working hard and demonstrating a real commitment to be the best in their chosen field. I have a special interest in music so I’m fascinated by those legends who can pick up an instrument and captivate an audience.

What has been your favourite or most memorable moment at Dunedin?

There have been so many memorable moments for me at Dunedin but if I had to pick one it would be attending the BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 2012. This was the year of the London Olympics and it felt special to attend with some of my colleagues and to get the chance to meet some truly great sports men and women. Seeing the winner that year, Bradley Wiggins, jump on stage to perform with the band was an unforgettable moment.

What gets you out of bed at the weekend?

My two children and their many activities are usually my early morning weekend alarm call. My role is now officially that of taxi driver!
