Dunedin-backed CET continues to build testing and outsourcing powerhouse with a second acquisition

By Dunedin,  June 03,2016

CET today announced that it has acquired Chesterfield based Omega Calibration Laboratories, its second acquisition in just four weeks

Dunedin-backed CET, which supplies specialist outsourced services to the construction and insurance sectors, today announced that it has acquired Chesterfield based Omega Calibration Laboratories, its second acquisition in just four weeks. This acquisition will provide customers with a broader range of services and further cements CET’s position as a leading UKAS accredited testing and outsourcing powerhouse in the UK.

Omega Calibration Laboratories provides specialist metrology calibration services and repairs to a diverse range of sectors, with clients including Bombardier and JCB. In early May, CET completed the acquisition of Doncaster based testing business, Construction Testing Solutions (CTS).

Both acquisitions, which have been financed by the company’s own cash resources, will deepen CET’s market leading testing expertise and will enable it to further expand its geographical reach across the UK. CET now provides clients from the construction sector, such as Aggregate Industries and VolkerWessels UK, with a nationwide infrastructure outsourcing service.

David Williams, Senior Partner at Dunedin and Chairman of CET, commented: “During our investment period, CET has successfully focussed on acquisitive and organic growth and made significant investment in enabling technology, greatly enhancing the service that it offers its clients. As a result, the business has enjoyed notable growth in the last three years, acquiring significant market share and increasing its revenues by 75%. This latest acquisition of a well established calibration business is a continuation of this successful strategy, and an important addition to CET’s product range and market leading technical capability.”

Bob Blunden, CEO of CET, commented: “Innovation and development are key elements of our ongoing commitment to customers. We are constantly looking to strengthen our offer and providing a comprehensive service to our customers is central to that. The acquisition of Omega Calibration Laboratories, which comes just weeks after our purchase of CTS, is not only a good strategic fit but enables us to provide an added-value service.”

Dunedin backed the management buyout of CET Group in 2005. This is the thirteenth acquisition to be completed by a Dunedin backed company since the start of 2015.
