Overview

Kee Safety is a global market leading provider of collective fall protection safety systems and solutions.  Its operations are spread across the UK, USA, Canada, Europe, Middle East and Far East.

Dunedin backed the management buyout of Kee Safety in December 2013. Our Origination Team had tracked the business for seven years - the work we had carried out allowed us to move quickly, resulting in winning exclusivity and completing the transaction within six weeks. We had previously invested in the sector and our proven sector knowledge gave us a clear competitive advantage.

The Opportunity

Kee Safety serves a large, growing market that is driven by developing health and safety standards around the world. It is a well-established, global brand and enjoys a wide spread of customers by type, geography and product. Its excellent management team has grown the business through acquisitions and geographic expansion and its margins are driven by a world class service.

Value Creation

We have provided further strategic support to the management team since the buyout and in particular have been involved in setting the pace of acquisition within the group (eleven acquisitions have been completed since Dunedin’s investment). We also supported the business in the development of its Far East operation with the opening of a Singapore office.

Business Description

Kee Safety is a global business with sales in more than 60 countries and is the biggest independent fall protection business in the sector. Its products ensure people are separated from hazards in the areas of Collective and Personal Fall Protection; Barrier and Guard Rail Systems; and ‘Work at Height’ and Safe Access Solutions. Its core patent protected product range includes modular barrier systems, guardrails, access platforms, safety gates and specialist fixings. Between 2010 and 2015 Kee Safety delivered sales growth of more than 100%.

Strategy

Future growth is planned around regional expansion in new and existing markets, as well as product line growth and product innovation. A strong platform has been established for future acquisitions.
